Core technology
Bekaert has pioneered high-speed multi-layer sputtering utilizing rotatable magnetron technology.

Sputtering is a process for depositing a thin uniform of a metal onto a substrate. During the process a target surface is bombared with an ionized gas. Hence metallic atoms are ejected from the target and are deposited on the substrate to be coated.
In a high vacuum chamber, a roll of polymeric material is transported via a chilled drum from an unwind to a rewind position. Multiple rotatable cathodes are positioned below the chilled drum. As the film is traversed above the cathodes, while against the chilled drum, ultra thin layers of the target material are deposited onto the substrate surface.
Capabilities
|
Roll coaters, ranging from laboratory / pilot scale to high speed multi-cathode multi-zone machines are utilized to meet a wide range of applications. Web widths ranging from 12" to 90" and roll sizes of up to 40" diameter may be processed. Equipped for passive and reactive deposition, single or multi-layer constructions may be produced in a single pass. |
