International Health and Safety Day 2011

Bekaert organized the fourth edition of its International Health & Safety Day on 22 September 2011. With this annual initiative Bekaert reaffirms its commitment to a healthy and safe working environment, which is a key priority for the company.

During the day numerous activities are planned in all Bekaert entities around the world. From Peru to China and from Canada to Indonesia, all 28 000 Bekaert employees will participate in initiatives that aim at keeping safety awareness high.

A 365 days effort

With ‘Traffic Safety' as a central theme for its International Health & Safety Day, Bekaert underscores the importance of everybody’s involvement in safer traffic. While this initiative takes place on one day, safety is a 365 days effort at Bekaert.

Embedded in Bekaert’s strategy

Safety has been a key concern at Bekaert since the days of old: it is embedded in our long tradition of operational excellence and our strategy for sustainable profitable growth. This is why safety objectives are a mandatory component of the annual business plan for each Bekaert plant. Performance in this area is being monitored continually and compared globally.
