Baron Buysse (°1945) began his career in 1966 at Ford Motor Company in different marketing and sales functions. He joined British Leyland Belgium in 1976, became Executive Director of Tenneco Belgium, Managing Director of J.I. Case Benelux in 1980, and General Manager Europe North - J.I. Case, International Harvester and Poclain in 1984. In 1988 Baron Buysse joined BTR plc as Group Managing Director of Hansen Transmissions International. He was appointed Group Chief Executive BTR Automotive and Engineering Group in 1989, Group Chief Executive BTR Engineering and Dunlop Overseas in 1991, and Executive Director BTR plc (London) in 1992. Before joining the Bekaert Group, Baron Buysse was CEO of Vickers plc (London) since 1998.

Furthermore, Baron Buysse is Chairman of the College of Censors of the National Bank of Belgium, Chairman of Immobel, Chairman of SeaTank, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Royal Superior Institute of Defense, Chairman of FBNet Belgium (Family Business Network Belgium), Editor of the Code Buysse (a Corporate Governance Code for non-listed companies), Founder-President NEA (a socio-economic reflection centre), Member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Belgian Industry, Member of the High Council of the University of Antwerp, Member of the Belgian Council of INSEAD – Fontainebleau, Member of the Board of Directors VEV (Flemish employers federation), Member of the International Board of Overseers of the Sabanci University (Istanbul).

Baron Buysse is Graduate in Business Management.
