Manfred Wennemer (°1947) was Chief Executive Officer of Continental AG from 2001 until August 2008.
He started his career at Procter & Gamble Schwalbach, Germany. After a short period at Arthur D. Little Wiesbaden, Mr. Wennemer took up several management positions in companies and business units belonging to the Freudenberg Group in Germany, South Africa and North America. In 1994 he moved to the Continental Group where he started as Executive Board Chairman at Benecke-Kaliko AG, a company belonging to the Continental Corporation's ContiTech division. In 1998 Mr. Wennemer was appointed chairman of the management board of ContiTech Holding GmbH and, at the same time, was assigned a seat on the Continental AG Executive Board, where he bore responsibility for the aforementioned division. In 2001 he was nominated by the Supervisory Board to chair the Executive Board. Since May 2005 he has additionally been responsible on the Executive Board for the corporation's Passenger and Light Truck Tire division and since December 2007 for the Interior division.
Manfred Wennemer holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Münster, Germany and an MBA from INSEAD Fontainebleau, France.
