Bekaert expands capacity in the US

When it comes to the nonwoven industry; an efficient and prompt service is the key for a good customer-relationship. That is why Bekaert Carding Solutions decided to expand its capacity for profiled wires.

Bekaert has been providing carding products and services for the North American nonwoven industry since the nineties and has built an extensive customer base in the region. In response to the growing demand and in view of an increase in efficiency and flexibility, Bekaert decided to extend its production platform in Orrville, Ohio. The new facility will be integrated into Bekaert’s existing flat and shaped plant.

“Bekaert is always looking for new ways to improve the quality of both its products and services. Seeing the increased demand for nonwoven card clothing products in North America, starting up a new facility is a logical step.” explains Mr. Dirk Van Hoeylandt, General Manager of Bekaert Carding Solutions. “And with Bekaert Orrville’s previous experience in producing profiled wire we foresee a smooth start-up of business.”

Bekaert Carding Solutions’ new facility will be operational by the end of 2011.

SiroLock® for Teflon fibers

To facilitate a wide range of applications Bekaert keeps improving its SiroLock® range. Our latest addition is SiroLock® VA12/5.00/55 for carding glass fibers.

The problem with processing glass fibers is that they are very fragile and can be easily pulverized to a dust that gets attracted by the wires. Not only do these wires need more cleaning because of this, glass fiber dust also poses a serious health risk for the people who come into contact with it.

To avoid this problem Bekaert developed a coarser type of SiroLock® with a large step; the VA12/5.00/55.  This uniquely shaped step will not only increase the fiber retention of your machines by about 50%, it will also avoid causing damage to the glass fibers which will reduce fly .

Nonwoven Carding SiroLock

First tests by customers proved to be very positive. While other wires would need to be cleaned every 3 or 4 hours, SiroLock® V12 never needed to be cleaned at all. These excellent results show that SiroLock® V12 is the choice card wire not only for glass fibers, but also for other fine and fragile fibers.

(SiroLock® VA12/5.00/55 is also available with a plattinium finish (F4) that is free of all micro burrs.)
