Textile technologies

In a woven structure like an impact weft, a transversal cord of between 0.6mm and 7 mm is wound above or below longitudinal cords on Bekaert machines and then bound.  An impact weft provides flexibility and strength.
A more complex weave, straight warp, takes transversal cords and crosses them with longitudinal cords. A binder then holds them together. The result is both flexibility and strength.
Knitting and braiding are technologies that are applied.
Textiles products are used  to reinforce conveyor belts, or to produce high temperature resistant applications.

better together wind mills

Situation

Ultra-strong and length-stable material is needed to reinforce synchronous belts which drive wind turbine blades.

Solution

A high-quality steel cord comprised of 83 twisted wires.

Result

Optimum tensile strength, length stability and adhesion with the rubber belt providing the wind turbine manufacturer with a substantially lighter, maintenance-free and space-saving solution.
