The low carbon wire is made on the basis of a selected wire rod that provides both the required min. T/S (min. 450 N/mm2) and the excellent welding properties to the final wire. The superior ZnAl coating on the wire developed by Bekaert and called Bezinal® 2000 results in very high corrosion resistant welded panels that are used to make wire cages (called “gabions”). This cages are filled with selected stones or lined with geotextiles in order to form strong embankments, retaining walls, or riverbank linings.
