Global Account Manager

 

Bekaert Corporation, a world leader in metal transformation/coating technologies, seeks a Global Account Manager at its Fairlawn, Ohio office. 
 
In order to support our fast growing market segments, we are looking for a dedicated and dynamic individual to be able to work in a booming market and fast changing environment.
 
Position volume has a turnover of over $100 million and operates globally.  The product  is hydraulic hose reinforcement wire   The incumbent is a key part of the sales team and is expected to build and maintain strategic relationships with our hydraulic hose customers.

Representing Bekaert within the customer by:

  • LISTENING to our customers to understand their needs on strategic initiatives, quality, OTD, product development, innovation, expansion plans and general way of working
  • COMMUNICATING the various Bekaert actions plans to our customers
  • Representing the customer within Bekaert by:
    • COMMUNICATING, DEPLOYING and FOLLOWING UP on our customer’s needs and corresponding action plans throughout our organization in a timely fashion.
  • Defining the strategic objectives that Bekaert needs to achieve with its customers by:
    • Having clear understanding of the “business value hierarchy” and Bekaert’s role in such
    • Setting goals and targets on market shares and product mix
    • Ensuring global alignment/consistency and internal alignment on policies, product development, processes, innovation and cost saving projects
    • Being a liaison with key people at all levels and in all regions of the customer organization
  • Decision maker - Based on inputs from all relevant Bekaert stakeholders, the incumbent makes the final judgment call on key decisions that impact the customer.
 
Your Specific Functions:
  • Assist in annual price negotiations and maintain a global price list and a Global Approval Database
  • Communicates to the customer on serious issues and monetary compensation
  • Coordinates global RFQ’s with the regional sales managers
  • Define and manage innovation projects with customers
  • Define the customer’s quality parameters, required delivery performance, approval objectives and projects
  • Develop an account plan
  • Ensure that the value we create is measurable and sufficiently captured; and proper “plant to plant” contacts to enable timely solving of complaints, including communicating on the nature of the complaint and corrective actions needed
  • Know and understand the customer’s long-term needs and how Bekaert can play a meaningful role in such
  • Monitor customer profitability and the customer’s financial performance and strategic decisions
  • Prepare announcements
  • Prioritize responsibilities and provide regular customer feedback
  • 25% Business travel (mostly domestic and some international)

  • Bachelors Degree (preferably in Engineering or Business Administration)
  • Six to ten 10 years of business experience (5 years relevant experience in BtB sales in manufacturing. Experience in key account management is preferred, as well as a background in TDSC, Sales, KLP or Quality)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including use of compelling visuals to communicate challenging or technical concepts.
  • Proficient in commonly used software programs (Microsoft Office - Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of other languages helpful
  • Be able to enforce action plans and discuss/defend the contents of such with the customer
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management and across different cultures (both customers’ and Bekaert’s);
  • Effective organizational, project management and prioritization skills
  • Fast learner and can multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Have self-confidence and ethics to share data openly but appropriately
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business understanding
