Steel Cord Reinforced Strips

Characteristics

Insertion strips are rubber or elastomer reinforced strips, used to reinforce belts, tracks or other materials. The product properties are steel cord types and strip types.
In the steel cord types, following characteristics can be influenced:

Construction types
All combinations of standard steel cord products are possible. Insertion strips can be composed of fine cord, belt cord or even specially designed steel cord.
Breaking strength
The force that can be torn before the steel cord breaks ranges from 1500 to 50.000 N.
Coating
Zinc and brass are the most common types of coating for steel cord.
Cord diameter
The diameter of the cords ranges from 1.5 to 4 mm.

In the strip types, following characteristics can be influenced:

Extruded material
Different types of rubber can be used, even rubber supplied by customers. Other possibilities are high density polyethylene, or polyurethane.
Number of cables and distance between the cables
The number of cables can range from 3 to 100, depending on the type of cables included. Different distances between the cables are possible, e.g. 1.5 mm inter-cable distance for a 1 mm cable.
Adhesion
The strips ensure excellent processability. In polyurethane or polyethylene strips, the cable shows very good adhesion in the strip.
