Shakespeare asked, 'What's in a name?' in Romeo and Juliet. At Bekaert, we believe we have the answer - #SayMyName

That's what we asked our employees in a global campaign focused on embracing inclusion in our everyday interactions at work. Our name represents one of the most important elements we all own. It may reflect our culture, the customs of where we were born or just what was popular at the time. No matter the origin, our names, an important part of our identity, help our colleagues to get a sense of who we are. They help enforce the value placed in diversity and inclusion and their importance in wider society today.

In November, we invited our employees to celebrate their uniqueness by sharing their name stories. Whether it was about what makes them proud, the origin or meaning of their name, or even a funny story behind it, we wanted to hear it all.

Getting each others’ name right and appreciating their uniqueness is a simple yet powerful way to make everyone feel valued and respected. Our colleagues jumped at the chance to share their stories, and over a 3-week period, numerous colleagues shared their stories all over the world and showed a genuine interest and desire to connect and interact with each other.

At Bekaert, we believe that cultural inclusion goes beyond just recognizing and respecting differences. It's about being inclusive and committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and included. At the heart of our culture, and what unites us as one team, is the belief that we are always Better Together.
