Nickel

Nickel

Nickel provides corrosion resistance, mechanical support, and electrical conductivity to AEM applications. This metal’s characteristics ensure durability in alkaline environments over the electrolyzer’s lifespan. Our nickel PTL is suitable for the high pH values of AEM technology. And it is available in thicknesses up to 1mm, depending on design constraints.

When it comes to AEM, managing scalability, accessibility, and expenses are key. Because nickel is an abundant metal, it contributes to operational efficiency and performance. Depending on the application, this metal is more prevalent than stainless steel. In all, nickel PTLs serve as a sustainable approach to the production of hydrogen.

The mechanical properties of our PTL help avoid deformation. During compression or intermittent electricity, enhanced elasticity allows the felt to compress. Even in uncontrolled environments, our PTL remains unfazed, returning back to its original shape and thickness.

Sintered metal fiber media have pore sizes in the µm-range.

  • Compared to sintered metal powder, higher porosity, and thus permeability, can be achieved at similar pore size.
  • Compared to metal foam, sintered metal fiber media enable a stepwise reduction in pore size and corresponding increase in surface area.
