The key features for the drag ropes are abrasion resistance and breaking strength. 8 strand ropes may be supplied when improved flexibility is required on under over fairlead systems. Drag ropes may be supplied with either 6 or 8 outer strands with a plastic coating to prevent excessive drum wear and to prevent material being pulled into the house. 6 strand ropes with larger strands tend to provide better abrasion resistance with 8 strand ropes providing better combination of flexibility and abrasion resistance.
