Presented at 2019 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Convention on February 28th

Van Buren, AR

Bekaert, a world market and technology leader in steel wire transformation and coating technologies, announces the selection of Engineering & Customer Technical Relations Manager Dale King as a speaker at the 2019 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, on Thursday,
February 28th, 8:23-8:43 AM, Room L017/018.

Dale King’s session, entitled “Reinforce and Protect: Corrosion Resistance for Prestressed Strands,” will explore the unique solutions Bekaert has developed to challenge “the way it has always been done” in prestressed concrete construction industry. His talk, part of the Operations educational track, will focus specifically on highway construction and improvements that allow precasters to deliver higher levels of corrosion resistance in their products and meet state and federal compliance requirements.

“This is an essential session for precasters, government officials, bridge designers, and anyone who works on infrastructure projects where Buy America
provisions influence material purchasing,” said Langston Bates, Construction Market Manager at Bekaert.

Dale adds, “The 270k PC strand Bekaert produces for precast/prestressed concrete highway construction is a quality and performance leader. While we meet all industry standards – ASTM A416 and various state and federal DOT standards – we also have a longstanding continuous improvement engineering process and advanced inhouse testing capabilities that allow us to push innovation in concrete reinforcement.”

The “Innovations in Precast” sessions are available to all registered attendees of the PCI Convention. Membership in the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute is not required for PCI Convention attendance. For registration and additional information on the PCI Convention, visit https://www.pci.org/Convention/Registration/Registration.aspx.

About Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute
Founded in 1954, the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) is the technical institute and trade association for the precast/prestressed concrete structures industry. As a technical institute, PCI develops, maintains, and disseminates the Body of Knowledge for the design, fabrication, and erection of precast concrete structures and systems by conducting research and development projects in concert with universities and research laboratories nationwide, publishing a broad array of technical resources including design manuals, state-of-the-art reports, periodicals, and more; certifying companies and individuals involved in the manufacture and erection of precast/prestressed concrete products; educating precast personnel and industry stakeholders on the proper specification, design, fabrication, erection, and use of precast/prestressed concrete; representing the industry in code advocacy activities. PCI members include precast concrete manufacturers, companies that provide products and services to the industry, precast concrete erectors, and individual members, such as architects, consultants, contractors, developers, educators, engineers, and students.

About the PCI Convention
The PCI Convention is the premier event for members of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. Held annually, the convention offers educational tracks in concrete production, leadership and management, marketing and sales, operations, quality control and production management, and technical management, along with its Precast University, to over 1000 attendees, vendors, and sponsors each year. The 2019 Convention is being held in conjunction with the National Precast Concrete Association’s Precast Show, North America’s largest precast-specific trade show.
